Conference "Human Rights in State of Emergency" - Институт за упоредно право

Тhe Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) hosted a two-day scholarly conference “Human Rights in State of Emergency” organized by the Committee for the Study of National Minorities and Human Rights. Research fellows of the Institute for Comparative Law, Dr. Milica Matijević and Doc. Dr. Miroslav Đorđević, as well as research associate Ana Zdravković, LL.M. attended the conference. Doc. Dr. Đorđević also participated in the discussion with his brief analysis of the constitutional role of the President of the Republic in a state of exception, as well as a review of the justification for the declaration of a state of emergency in Serbia due to the COVID 19 pandemic. His speech will be published in the Proceedings of SANU, which is expected to be available by the end of 2023.

Doc. Dr. Miroslav Đorđević took part in the public debate on the new judicial laws

On December 27, 2022, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a public hearing on a set of new judicial laws. Research fellow of the Institute of Comparative Law, Doc. Dr. Miroslav Đorđević (who is also a member of the Working group for prosecutorial laws) addressed the audience, pointing out several important aspects of improving the position of public prosecutors in Serbia.

Dr Matijević delievered workshop for master students in Venice

27-28 October 2022 Milica V. Matijević (PhD), a research associate of the Institute of Comparative Law, delivered the human rights impact assessment workshop at the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization on 27th and 28th of October 2022 in Venice (Italy).

17 October 2022 Research fellows of the Institute for Comparative Law, Doc. Dr. Miroslav Đorđević and Dr. Savo Manojlović were awarded the prize of the "Miodrag Jovičić" Foundation for the best doctoral dissertations in the field of constitutional law and political system.

Third Regional Law Review conference held

Third Regional Law Review conference was held on September 1-2, 2022 in hybrid mode (live and via Zoom platform). Conference was organised by Institute of Comparative Law from Belgrade, Faculty of Law, University of Pécs from Hungary and Faculty of Law, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, Croatia.
