A commemoration was held in the premises of the Institute for Comparative Law for Predrag Vukasović, PhD, a retired Research Associate of the Institute who passed away on February 27 of this year. At the opening, the gathering was greeted by the acting director of the Institute, Prof. Jelena Ćeranić Perišić, PhD. Vukasović’s life and work were discussed by Prof. Vesna Rakić Vodinelić, PhD, Prof. Jovica Trkulja, PhD, Prof. Saša Gajin, PhD and Mario Reljanović, PhD. The speakers pointed to Vukasović’s versatile scientific work, exceptional writing style and layered analysis of legal and sociological problems. His role in creating the text of the first anti-discrimination law in Serbia, the Law on Prevention of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, and his work on strengthening the position of persons with disabilities as well as associations of persons with disabilities, were also highlighted. The gathering was also addressed by Ljubinka Borizoski, the longtime administrative secretary of the Association for Cerebral and Children’s Paralysis. The cheerful spirit and enormous energy with which colleague Vukasović approached science and law research are a model for the generations to come. Vukasović was a complex, intelligent and versatile person, whose creativity left an indelible mark on the Institute of Comparative Law. He will be remembered for his scientific achievements, but also for his poetry, as well as his exceptional sense of humour.
