The scientific conference "Reform of the Judicial System of Serbia" was held in the co-organization of the Institute for Comparative Law

The scientific conference “Reform of the Judicial System of Serbia” organized by the Union University Law School, the Institute of Comparative Law and the Association of Lawyers of Serbia was held on May 12^th and 13^th at the Union University Law School. Participants in the conference were renowned representatives of the Serbian judiciary, such as judges, deputy public prosecutors, attorneys, notaries public and enforcement officials. Joining renowned speakers, prof. Vladimir Čolović, PhD, Scientific Advisor at the Institute of Comparative Law, presented the topic “Application of Foreign Law and the Status of Foreign Decisions” while Ana Knežević Bojović, PhD, Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Comparative Law, elaborated on “New competences of the High Judicial Council – European standards, comparative practices and developments in Serbia”. Each panel was followed by a fruitful discussion about best solutions and potential amendments that would improve the judicial system of Serbia.

13 May 2023 Our colleague, research fellow of the Institute of Comparative Law, Assistant Professor Miroslav Đorđević, PhD was elected member of the High Prosecutorial Council of the Republic of Serbia from among the elective members chosen by the National Assembly. At the plenary session of the Parliament, he received 156 votes, and was then unanimously elected by the Commission. Doc. Dr. Miroslav Đorđević on changing the legal culture and improving the formal education of future judicial function holders

On February 21, 2023, the "Judicial Reform Conference" organized by the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia was held in the "Hyatt Regency" hotel. The reason for holding this event is the adoption of five new judicial laws which, at this stage, complete the reform process. About what has been done, as well as what still needs to be done on the legal and non-legal level in order to make the Serbian judiciary as fair and efficient as possible, numerous distinguished speakers expressed their opinion. One of the speakers was the research fellow of the Institute for Comparative Law, Doc. Dr. Miroslav Đorđević, whose presentation was about changing the legal culture at law faculties and improving the formal education of future holders of judicial functions.

Visit to the Institute of physics Belgrade and signing of the Agreement on scientific cooperation

On February 21, 2023, a delegation from the Institute of Comparative Law visited the Institute of Physics, the first institute of national importance in the Republic of Serbia. At the meeting, the possibilities and ways of future scientific and professional cooperation between the two institutes, as well as other activities that can have scientific transdisciplinary potential and contribute to mutual reference and cooperation of natural and social sciences were discussed. At the end of the meeting, the directors of both Institutes solemnly signed the Agreement on Scientific and Professional Cooperation, as an umbrella act for all future activities that the two institutions and researchers will jointly undertake.
