Conference “The Scholarly Work of Academician Miodrag Jovičić”

On the occasion of 100 years since the birth of Academician Miodrag Jovičić (1925-1999), a two-day academic conference titled “The Scholarly Work of Academician Miodrag Jovičić” will be opened on Tuesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. in the Grand Hall of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). The conference is organized by the Department of Social Sciences of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, in cooperation with the Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade and the “Miodrag Jovičić” Foundation.

Miodrag Jovičić is recognized as one of the most prominent figures in Serbian legal and political thought of the 20th century. A student and intellectual successor of Slobodan Jovanović, he upheld and further developed the values Jovanović had established within Serbian culture. Engaging with a broad spectrum of public law topics, Jovičić endeavored to promote modern parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, and the legal state in Serbia.

The conference aims to examine Jovičić’s scholarly legacy from various perspectives, consider the historical context in which he lived, and explore his academic contributions both as a professor and as a member of the Institute and the Academy.
