
The Institute of Comparative Law marked its 70th anniversary with a formal celebration held on June 19, 2025, in the elegant setting of the Krsmanović House in Belgrade.
The event was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including state secretaries, the envoy of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, assistant ministers, academics, deans of law faculties, directors of research institutes, and many other friends and associates of the Institute.
During the ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the Institute’s history and development over the decades, as well as its contribution to the advancement of legal science and comparative legal analysis in Serbia. The Institute’s Director, Professor Dr. Jelena Ćeranić Perišić, opened the ceremony with a speech highlighting the Institute’s tradition, commitment, and ongoing role in addressing contemporary legal challenges. The Institute of Comparative Law continues to contribute to the advancement of Serbian law, its harmonization with European and international legal standards, the development of legal scholarship, and close cooperation with numerous national and international institutions. In her speech, Marija Gnjatović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, emphasized that seven decades of continuous scientific work stand as proof of the Institute’s perseverance, expertise, and firm belief in the importance of legal science for the development of society.
On this occasion, the Institute presented its traditional awards named after its first director, Borislav Blagojević.
Awardees
The Award for Contribution to the Development of the Institute of Comparative Law was presented to Professor Dr. Mirko Vasiljević.
The Award for the Development of Science was awarded to Scientific Advisor Professor Dr. Vladimir Đurić.
The Award for Best Young Researcher was presented to Research Associate MSc Aleksandar Mihajlović.
