To that end, at the request of the Ministry, the joint European Union and Council of Europe action \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/cdcj\/serbia_strengthening-independence-and-accountability-of-the-judiciary\">Strengthening independence and accountability of the judiciary<\/a>\u201d produced a brochure entitled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rm.coe.int\/hf9-full-respect-judiciary-public-servants\/1680a4eed3\"><strong>Full respect of decisions and the work of the judiciary by public officials and civil servants \u2013 international standards<\/strong><\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maja Popovi\u0107, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia<\/strong>, stressed in her foreword to the brochure that \u201cpreservation of public trust in the judiciary and safeguarding of its independence from other branches of government are essential elements of the rule of law and the separation of powers. Court proceedings must be guaranteed protection from political pressure, along with the clear need for open discussions on issues of public interest that concern the work of the judiciary\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The publishing of the brochure is foreseen by the revised Action Plan for Chapter 23.
